Stories of Faith

Not too messy for Jesus

A woman lives with a wound for more than two years, too embarrassed for help and feeling like a leper.

"In November 1999, at a Full Gospel Business meeting I asked Weston Carryer to pray for a weepy sore which was about two-and-a-half-inches long that I’d had for two years or more. I had been to my GP but his first reaction on seeing it was,“Ooh, yuk! What a mess.” This remark didn’t make me feel too great, I can tell you. The doctor prescribed cream that I was to apply three times a day, and then I was to go back to him after a week. My husband told my doctor that he thought it looked like some type of skin cancer but the doctor’s reply was, “We will see what happens in the next week.”

I never found out what this thing on my neck was as I was too embarrassed by the doctor’s reaction. I never went back. My husband would try and tell me to go back but I just let it fall on deaf ears. If people spotted this thing on my neck their reaction was the same as the doctor’s. I knew, at this stage, what a leper must have felt like. I started to keep it covered at all times.

The night I asked Weston to pray for me, my first words to him were, “Please don’t say, ‘Ooh, yuk!’ to what I am about to show you on my neck.” Weston’s reply to me was that he would never do that and he then proceeded to pray. Nothing much happened that night, but a few days later, while having a shower, I asked the Lord if He would please heal this thing supernaturally.

At the end of that week, Weston was to hold a seminar on the Saturday and take both services at the Hastings City Elim Church, which I attended. It was at the Sunday evening service that I went and asked Weston to pray for this thing again. As I had been selling Weston’s books for him, I was the last person to be prayed for. Nothing happened that night but a few days later, the thing on my neck was disappearing.

Now, praise the Lord, all that I have on my neck is a white scar which looks just as if I had had an operation. Quite often I am asked if I have had an operation on my neck. I explain, “No, I didn’t have an operation. But Jesus healed me of a thing that I’d had there. He was the Surgeon.” It has been great to let people see what the power of God can do."
