Quotes On How To Reach The Nations

Published in Blog

I really enjoy quotes: Why?

  • They sum up multiple thoughts,
  • They’re to the point,
  • They’re succinct and remember-able,
  • I enjoy the way that the words are used in pulling multiple thoughts together.

So here are 20 of my favourite quotes...about the BEST way to reach Nations!

"The best way to fulfill the great commission that Jesus gave to us in Matt 28, is to plant new Churches". Rick Warren.

“The single most effective evangelistic method under Heaven is planting new churches ...who in turn reproduce themselves”. Peter Wagner.

“No missiological principle is more important than saturation church planting”. C. Peter Wagner.

“The most concrete, lasting form of ministry in Acts is church planting”. C. Peter Wagner.

“The starting of new congregations … is to me the central activity to which all evangelistic methods must be bent”. Dr Ralf Winter.

The true fruit of an apple tree is not an apple, it’s another apple tree. I wonder how many orchards an apple tree could plant?

It would be more accurate to say that, Paul’s missionary journeys were church planting journeys.

Paul planted new churches, that in turn planted new churches.

The early church implemented the Great Commission mandate primarily by planting churches.

The healthiest churches are those who reproduce...

What about the thought of...disciples multiplying churches - not only the other way around...

"The only reason for any Christian to be in this world is to fulfil the great commission.” Jossy Chacko.

“Lets not fish with a hook and a line, but with nets”.

Plant churches like rabbits, not like elephants.

"It's time to stop counting converts and begin counting congregations." Ralph Moore.

A great goal for every church is to plant another church. Plant a new church that is pregnant!!!

To increase the Kingdom of God, we need to learn how to multiply churches, not simply adding churches.

"The only way to increase the number & percentage of Christians in a city is to plant thousands of new churches". Tim Keller

"New church planting is the only way that we can be sure we are going to increase the number of believers in a city & one of the best ways to renew the Body of Christ." Tim Keller.

Every church that exists today has been planted by somebody or a group of people.

The conclusion:
Let's not waste hard earned mission's dollars...use them to plant new churches!
Think about how you can multiply yourself...

Many of these quotes are found and expanded in the book ‘MULTIPLICATION’.

December Update

I have just returned from Europe for the 4th time this year.

I was in Manchester for a church planting conference – LAUNCH. (www.launcheurope.org). Networking with other church planters who are working in the UK and on the continent of Europe fires me up. Meeting people like Jossy Chacko, who over the last 19 years has helped plant 22,000 churches and seen over 800,000 people baptized in India, is very inspiring! I absolutely believe this can happen on the continent of Europe. It must happen if we are serious about reaching Western Europe.

Then it was onto Belgium for a 1 day church planting mini conference that VCI hosted. I was believing for at least 30 Belgian people – 35 were there! That is a miracle.  I was also believing that seed would be sown it would bear fruit in the form of new communities of faith. People’s response was such that it strongly suggested this took place. “You will always harvest what you plant…at just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up”. Gal 6:7-9. Amen.

Then I went to speak in Axel, South Holland in one of our VCI churches. 2 people responded to Christ! This is a relatively new church and they are aiming to plant churches in nearby towns!

Then it was onto Dublin where I spoke to a number of church leaders including Elim Pastors on church planting, and had the privilege to minister in a church.

I felt it was a fruitful trip. I had some great connections and much seed was planted. I know God is nurturing and watering this seed.  I’m very encouraged. I look forward to seeing multiplication in the days ahead.

Once again Karen and I are so thankful for all the prayer, support, and encouragement that makes this possible. Please be assured that your prayer, effort, and $ are making an eternal difference, not only for today but for generations to come…thank you!

The best way to fulfil the Great Commission is to plant churches that plant churches!

May you have a fantastic Christmas… and a fruitful 2018.

For the Kingdom.

Church Multiplication is more like gardening than construction

Published in Blog

Today, along with my upcoming dates below, I would also like to share the following short except from an article from Ralph Moore on church planting, and I encourage you to read the full article. Around a 1000 churches could name Ralph's church and ministry as the catalyst for their church plants. He and his wife Ruby live in Honolulu where they have just planted another church, Hope Chapel.

“Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.” The command is repeated twice in Genesis. In Genesis 1:28 at the beginning of humanity God says this to Adam and Eve. He commands it again, in Genesis 9:1 when he reboots humanity with Noah’s family after the flood. God gave the same mandate twice—we should not miss the significance of that.

It is almost as if that command is at the core of our creative DNA. But it didn’t take long for man to forget the very first thing he was told to do. This is most notable in Genesis 11 where we see humanity coming together to build the Tower of Babel. Mankind was not sending and spreading, but gathering and building. The self-centered dream took the place of the vision God gave us. As a result, God scattered what humans had gathered.

This type of garden vs tower thinking isn’t unique to Genesis. It also has taken root in the church…

We've made history! October Update

Published in Blog

I have just returned from Holland and France, and while there I believe we made History… A dream was seeded 28 years ago, of a Church Planting Training Centre (CPTC) where students graduate when they have been involved in planting a church. This has now begun in Terneuzen, Zeeland, see the website for more information www.cptc.nl

It kicked off with 17 students – and it is likely that at least 3 churches will come out of this intake. We also began with a church planting conference. CPTC was nothing less than brilliant. The laughter, prayer times, presence of God was very evident and presentations were excellent. I felt the smile of God.

A cake at our CptC Launch featuring some of the lecturers.

It was great to be with VCI churches in Terneuzen with Cors and Coby Ephraim, and Joa and Thirza Ephraim. Also in Oss, with Christiaan and Jedidja and in Arras, (North France) with Irene and Paul. Most of the churches are putting plans in place to plant churches in nearby towns and cities. We had another VCI all-in-day in the OSS Church. It was great. This is where we connect with all the church leaders and others aiming to partner with us. Christiaan Bakker and Joa Ephriam led the day, both have an incredible apostolic gifting. It’s simply a joy to see people excited about His call on their lives, connecting with those of like mind and catching the multiplication DNA.

Now, I have a number of NZ speaking engagements in late October and early November, then its back on the plane on 8th for Manchester, UK.

  • I’m speaking in one of the new Ivy Church plants. Ps Anthony Delaney and the Ivy Church team have become encouraging friends in this journey of church planting. Ivy church is also hosting “LAUNCH”  www.launcheurope.org  Launch is a National and European focused church planting conference which I’ll be speaking in. Please pray.

I arrive back in NZ on the 29th Nov. It’s very encouraging to see doors opening and addition happening. My sense is that before the end of 2021 (I’m giving myself space here) we will see multiplication begin.

The new church that we have been involved with, Hope Chapel Cambridge is progressing well and is building month by month. We meet in the Ignite Arts Academy at 20 Milicich Place in Cambridge, New Zealand on Sundays at 5pm.  While it’s a great venue it’s getting too small, so we’re on the hunt for another space.

Thank you once again for those who pray and support. You are making a difference. A special shout out to those who have recently sponsored books and travel…thank you!
